God has no mother ( Gen. 1:27). This includes Mary. She was the mother of Jesus the human being on earth. She did what Noah, Abraham, Moses and the prophets did concerning God, they obeyed the will of God. It makes no difference what Mary did after Jesus was born. She was a mother to her son like any mother. The focus was always and should always be Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior (John 3:16-18).
STEVE RAY HERE: Michael: In the early Church, you would have been considered a heretic for your ignorance and poor theology. Jesus is both God and man; he is a "divine person." He is God in the flesh and Mary was his mother. Therefore, since she is the mother of a divine person, she is the Mother of God. Catholics do not teach (almost seems ridiculous to say this) that Mary is the Mother of the Trinity or the mother of the Father. She is merely a human being herself, but in giving birth to a divine person she is the mother of God.
The Council of Ephesus in 431 was fighting against those who denied the deity of Jesus. The proponents of this heresy said the same thing you say "Mary is the Mother of Jesus, not of God." The Council said, By affirming Mary is the "theotokos" (God-bearer) Jesus must be both God and man. I would suggest you read the Bible a little more closely and learn your history and theology and stop parroting recent Protestant innovations.
