It was — both!
We watched it again today because it is the season of Sukkot, the Jewish feast of Tabernacles, which is what this charming movie is about.
It was entitled Ushpizin and follows an Orthodox Jewish couple wrestling with God — and each other and everyone else — during the festival of Succoth. It has a good number of twists and turns and is very entertaining.
The movie is in Hebrew with English subtitles. It was filmed in Jerusalem — looks like the ultra-orthodox district of Mea-Shearim. It was interesting to see how they view God and relate to him. And, how God relates to them even in their struggles and doubts. We recommend this to anyone who tries to understand God and who has a respect or interest in the Jewish people.
