Rorate Caeli has released a translation of a remarkable interview, originally published in 2008, with Cardinal Carlo Caffara of Bologna. In it, he references correspondence he had with Sister Lucia, the principle visionary of Our Lady at Fatima:
Yes, I was. At the start of this work entrusted to me by the Servant of God John Paul II, I wrote to Sister Lucia of Fatima through her Bishop as I couldn’t do so directly. Unexplainably however, since I didn’t expect an answer, seeing that I had only asked for prayers, I received a very long letter with her signature – now in the Institute’s archives. In it we find written: the final battle between the Lord and the reign of Satan will be about marriage and the family. Don’t be afraid, she added, because anyone who operates for the sanctity of marriage and the family will always be contended and opposed in every way, because this is the decisive issue. And then she concluded: however, Our Lady has already crushed its head.
Talking also to John Paul II, you felt too that this was the crux, as it touches the very pillar of creation, the truth of the relationship between man and woman among the generations. If the founding pillar is touched the entire building collapses and we see this now, because we are at this point and we know it. And I’m moved when I read the best biographies of Padre Pio , on how this man was so attentive to the sanctity of marriage and the sanctity of the spouses, even with justifiable rigor on occasion.
Does this come as any surprise to those watching the events currently unfolding in the Church? We have referenced various apparitions in the past that are related to this, beginning with Our Lady of Good Success, in the 17th century:
“Thus I make it known to you that from the end of the 19th century and shortly after the middle of the 20th century…the passions will erupt and there will be a total corruption of morals… As for the Sacrament of Matrimony, which symbolizes the union of Christ with His Church, it will be attacked and deeply profaned. Freemasonry, which will then be in power, will enact iniquitous laws with the aim of doing away with this Sacrament, making it easy for everyone to live in sin and encouraging procreation of illegitimate children born without the blessing of the Church… In this supreme moment of need for the Church, the one who should speak will fall silent.”
When we reflect on the division among prelates at the Synod, Our Lady of Akita comes to mind:
“The work of the devil will infiltrate even into the Church in such a way that one will see cardinals opposing cardinals, bishops against bishops. The priests who venerate me will be scorned and opposed by their confreres…churches and altars sacked; the Church will be full of those who accept compromises and the demon will press many priests and consecrated souls to leave the service of the Lord.”
Catholics are not required to believe in even the most approved and venerated private revelations, but many of us choose to do so. Does this battle relate to the famous discourse Pope Leo XIII was alleged to have heard in a vision between Christ and Satan, which led him to compose the prayer to St. Michael? How long the final battle will last, and what will come after?
It is impossible to know. But the notion that there is at this very moment a battle taking place for the heart of the Church and the souls of the faithful is no longer in dispute.

Our Lady of Good Success name checking freemasons 100 years before the term was even created – I smell something fishy there….$100 bet those prophecies were written in the 20th century by some scallywag.

Battles over family have been fought before, so even if Sr. Lucia is right, there is no reason to believe TODAY'S battle over the family will be the final one.
STEVE RAY HERE: With Our current situation I think it is very different and has escalated over anything we’ve had in the past. Never has the Supreme Court ever considered it OK to kill a baby and never has the Supreme Court ever said a man marrying a man is equal to what I did with my wife. We are entering uncharted territory and I think we are entering exactly what Sister Lucia was talking about.
Masonry, as Our Lady spoke of at Quito, has been around much much longer than say 1700s with the founding of the Grand Lodge in London—a Lodge only. Many trace Masonry’s strains back a thousand years earlier. See Nicholas Haggar’s book on Freemasonry in the founding of America. George Washington was a well-known Mason. Plus, Our Lady of Fatima was quite clear that Russia would spread her evil ways if Our Lady’s message was not heeded and people did not repent. The Bolshevik Revolution happened within days of the last vision of Fatima October 1917. Our Lady always came before times of great peril for souls and the Church. Our Lady of Guadalupe came 40 years before the battle of Lepanto saved Christian West from Muslim invasion and thus unprecedented millions in Mexico converted to the Faith just as they were being lost in Europe. Quito happened right at the peak of England’s break from and continuing persecution of the Church. Catholic Shakespeare was writing his best coded plays at that time. Our Lady always comes to warn and call us to repentance for these evils.

Why is this shouted out to people all over the world, specially in our churches ?
I think I will stick to the Holy Scriptures and Sacred Tradition for revelations. All these different “apparitions” are nice but not binding on the faithful . Where were these “urgent warning apparitions” 1500 years ago? The world was a mess then too.
I think what is important is the sense of urgency in the matter and not whether it is the end of the world. At 87 I am already aware of the limited days I have to live. We all face an end sooner or later and it is better to be concerned sooner than wait until it is too late.
Please like Diana Thomson may I have this sent to my private email to distribute. I agree with Steve Ray that things could never have been this bad in the past. Even the Roman Empire had times of high morals even though they were pagans, which proves a natural moral law even though they didn’t know from where it came. We have become neo-pagans in the west which is very dangerous because it is easier to convert someone who hasn’t had our advantages. When we challenge any one of them eg: Abortion, reply what about rape. Marriages which are abusive usually towards women. Same sex couples , they were born that way. My answer to such remarks is Hard Cases Make Bad Laws.
It has become extremely difficult for one wage to be enough and although I don’t care if a woman wants a career so long as she doesn’t make stay at home moms feel useless. Extreme wealth and poverty are equally dangerous for a good family life, but we don’t run our country so it will take another Saint to help us I think. Anyone reading this might be that person. Let us pray that more of us will speak out because no one seems contented anymore. The rich are arrogant and the poor are resentful. We need a not too wealthy middle class society throughout the world. So any Saint out there. Hurry up because I think time is nearly up. Or come Lord Jesus, come quickly.
One thing to note: To God, all time is present. Things that are to happen can be sooner or later as measured by humans. The various forms of evil that come to the fore from time to time are to be resisted by us but have already been determined by God. All will continue this way until the real end times.

Isn’t it the enemy’s goal to make us believe he doesn’t exist? We had better be alert. Our Lord warned that we do not know the day or the hour. I believe in the Fatima apparitions. I want to be alert every day. Our Lady of Fatima pray for us and for an increase in Priestly vocations, to help us get to heaven. Priests are the only ones that can dispense the sacraments to the faithful. To every Priest that works tirelessly to bring Our Lord to us in the Eucharist…THANK YOU!
It appears to me that Amoris Laetitia is a Trojan Horse that is being used to attack the family within the Church.
