Topic for the Show: Questions from Non-Catholics
I was called at the last minute to fill in for Tim Staples whose wife had a baby Friday morning. The questions below are stated to the best of my memory–not necessarily word for word.

Lapsed Catholic: “I am pro-life but not sure what to think about the baby which is the product of rape or incest. What does the Catholic Church teach about this?”
Former Catholic, Evangelical who is now “post-Protestant” reconsidering the Catholic Church: “I am struggling with how to understand “sola Scriptura” (which I have now found flawed), development of doctrine, the Fathers of the Church and Catholic teaching. How should I understand Catholic doctrines not explicitly spelled out in the Bible?”
Baptist: “Can you please explain to me what Purgatory is and why Catholics think it is necessary? Where can you find it in the Bible?”
Non-Catholic: “My Catholic friend at work talks about Mary with great respect. Why do Catholics think Mary is so pure and hold her in such high regard?”
No religion who has recently become Lutheran: “How did the Lutheran Church get started and why did Martin Luther leave the Catholic Church?”
Eastern Orthodox: “My priest always tells me that God loves me. Is he saying this only to make me feel good or is it really true?”
Baptist: Catholics says that Peter is the rock on which the Church is built. But I’ve heard that Jesus is the rock foundation of the Church and Peter is only a small stone.”
Protestant who is now almost Catholic: “What is mortal sin and what happens if a person dies in mortal sin? Do they go to Purgatory or hell?
