If you would like to join in on the lively discussion I had with Bryan Mercier. He described it as,

“Catholic vs Protestant (on salvation) Former Fundamentalist Baptist Steve Ray speaks about salvation and how to be saved. He shows why Protestants don’t understand salvation correctly and why Catholics have the true understanding of salvation.”

I’m an ex-Protestant Catholic. However the man who I came to regard as a “spiritual father” was a Presbyterian pastor who died 30 years ago this January. My own natural father didn’t add up to much and the pastor filled the gap to some extent.

However it took me with some surprise when he said in a private discussion that “I sometimes wonder if Protestants get into heaven.” He thought God wasn’t as easy going about the continued division of the church, and would not have been very impressed with the wars of religion which raged through Europe in the the sixteenth and seventeenth century. He added “The Reformation was easily the most violent episode in church history.”

I won’t say much more but I’ve got my own thoughts about the Protestant position, mainly due to the pastor and what I claim have been a handful of brief visions of him after he died. He’ll appear, say something, and then just disappear.

PS – I’d better point out I haven’t listened to the podcast as I’m hard of hearing, and generally don’t listen to the radio, podcasts or other audio communications, preferring visual and printed media. Subtitles are the greatest invention since sliced bread in my opinion.

The only reason I”m hear is that I saw a reference to the podcast on Christian Forums where someone else had provided the link.

STEVE RAY HERE: God bless you Bob! Welcome home!
