Revisiting a nice note received from England:

Thank you, Steve. My sister-in-law was Catholic and she turned away to be a new-born Christian [Fundamentalist Protestant]. A lot of these people got round her and constantly told her she was going to hell unless she gets born again and she then tried to convert me and my wife.

She successfully made us doubt the Catholic religion but then we found you and listened to what you had to say and I feel stronger than ever about my Catholic faith. Last night I showed my sister-in-law some of your clips on YouTube. We just told her to listen to what you had to say then make her mind up after watching.

She has now turned back to the Catholic faith. Thank God!

If these people lived in the first century and taught lies like this about being “born-again” and that baptism doesn’t save you, against the true presnce of Christ in the Eucharist, etc they would be called heretics. Why is it that they are now called Christians? Why not call a spade a spade like St. Ignatius did or the other Church Fathers that faught so hard against heresies?

Steve, I know you don’t have to post this, but if you have any time maybe you could email me and help me understand this.

Because in the first century all Christians were Catholic and to later reject a doctrine or embrace a false teaching was heresy. Today, people are baptized (making them Christians), but they were never in the Catholic Church. They didn’t believe Catholic doctrines to begin with. Objectively, they do believe heresies. Catholics, however, who did believe Catholic truths then later rejected at least one, are heretics.

I have the same question as Mike. God forgive me but sometimes I just want to pull a St. Nicholas and slug them. I saw our Catholic faith and ultimately my whole family, the domestic church, slowly but unceasingly undermined by a sister that, like the sister-in-law above fell away from the Church to become “born again”. My whole family has been destroyed and does not talk to each other because rather than just leave the Church, she turned around and attacked it relentlessly, and, quite honestly, nobody knew enough catechism to correct her lies. Why do we allow them to be called Christians when they do not accept Christ’s teachings? They don’t want Christ on His terms, they want Him on theirs. I realize those born into protestant families don’t know any different and believe what they’ve been taught, but the fact is they’ve been taught lies and heresies, but we call them Christian anyway. I just don’t understand that.

Now USCB want to Excommunicate me because of my belief on Illegal immigration invading the USA. They clapped in glee discussing instituting a new Canonical law to excommunicate practicing Catholics. Meanwhile still running into headwinds on Pro Life Ministry in Parishes. Politicians slam Church magisterium act as heretics and celebrated. Mayor a former Catholic now a QUAKER promotes Abortion with Cecile Richard’s on steps of our Court House. Our Pastor lets her a Democratic speak at busiest Mass during election season. GOP candidate not invited.. Bizarre
