Israel day 3: Transfiguration, Cana and Nazareth

  • Save
And so we begin our first full day of pilgrimage. Everyone got a good nights sleep, listening to the waves of the Sea of Galilee and the night birds. We had a luxurious breakfast (not just Continental). We took off early this morning to catch the first taxis up Mount Tabor to visit the site of the Transfiguration. Always a favorite and hard to get people to leave. They all say, like Peter, “It is good for us to be here!“

Then the short drive to Cana (2nd Luminous Mystery) the turning of water into wine where we all renewed our baptismal vows before heading to lunch in Nazareth.

From there, we went to the Church of the Annunciation to stand in the place where the 1st Joyful Mystery happened. The altar says “The Word became flesh HERE“.

Then on to dinner at Magdalena, which is one of the finest restaurants in the whole northern part of Israel. Elegant dinner before heading back for another good nights sleep.
