I Found Out I'm a Regent

About 8 years ago, Tom Monaghan (of Dominos Pizza fame) asked me to be a founding Board member of Ave Maria College in Ypsilanti Michigan. A few years later he surprised me by asking me to be a trustee/director of his Ave Maria Foundation — the overarching foundation under which all his philanthropic activies function including Legatus, radio stations, Ave Maria Law School, Thomas More Center, Ave Maria College and University, Dominos Farms, and much more.

Recently Tom founded the Ave Maria University in Naples Florida and this week he held the Foundation Board meeting in Naples. I didn’t mind since the snow is swirling around my house here in Michigan with drifts reaching 3 feet and more. In Florida it was sunny and a balmy 70 degrees.

Tom surprised me again by appointing me a to the Board of Regents of the Ave Maria University. I accepted.
