The Cindrella Man is built around the true story of the boxer Jim Braddock, but don't let the boxing theme throw you. This is not a Rocky-type movie but a thrilling story of a man with great integrity fighting (no pun intended) to protect his family and build an honest life for his children.
The boxing scenes are graphic and well done, Russell Crowe is superb, and the story is very moving. It is thoroughly Catholic, not only because his wife frequently goes to the local parish church to pray, but because it promotes honesty, family, integrity, fair play, and high morals.
The Cinderella Man is a great movie and can be watched by a family with older children. It will provide a lot to discuss and a good example of the Christian life.
