My son wrote last night and said, “Dad, we are are all watching a movie we think you and mom would love. It has a lot of swearing in it but the movie is great. The kids are enjoying it too.”

So we decided to watch it this afternoon and never laughed so hard in a long time. It was very human, Catholic in the redemptive sense, and delightful from beginning to end though a bit crude in places. It is entitled “The Peanut Butter Falcon.”

IMDb writes, “The Peanut Butter Falcon is an adventure story set in the world of a modern Mark Twain that begins when Zak (22), a young man with Down syndrome, runs away from the nursing home where he lives to chase his dream of becoming a professional wrestler by attending the wrestling school The Salt Water Redneck. Through circumstances beyond their control Tyler (32), a small-time outlaw on the run, becomes Zak’s unlikely coach and ally. Together they wind through deltas, elude capture, drink whiskey, find God, catch fish, and convince Eleanor (28), a kind nursing home employee with a story of her own, to join them on their journey.”

Sit down with the ones you love, get the popcorn and prepare to enjoy yourselves in a redemptive, romping bunch of fun and laughs.

Thanks! Our family has a Down Syndrome hero due to her health issues who is absolutely beloved! Was wondering about this movie but will be watching it over the holiday! Thanks!

STEVE RAY HERE: It has a lot of swearing and is crude in places but very endearing. Let me know what you think.
