Pilgrimage for Permanent Deacons and Their Wives

JERUSALEM, JAN. 20, 2006 (Zenit.org).- A pontifical institute in the Holy Land is organizing a pilgrimage for permanent deacons and their wives.

The Notre Dame of Jerusalem Center is organizing a pilgrimage to the Holy Land for permanent deacons and their wives.

The Sept. 9-18 pilgrimage includes visits to the principal Holy Sites as well as a seminar geared specifically to deacons' ministry and family life.

"We believe it is a new initiative. I have not heard of many activities organized at the international level for permanent deacons and their wives," Legionary Father Juan Solana, a delegate of the Holy See for the institute, told ZENIT.

The pilgrimage is co-organized with Steve Ray, a professional guide accredited in the Holy Land and a producer of documentaries on the Bible.

The pilgrimage is geared to English-speaking permanent deacons, but other languages are not excluded, if there is a representative number, the organizers said.
