Asking for a friend. He found out his wife was married by a priest in the catholic church in another country and now after many years she said it doesn’t matter because it happened many years ago. She was given money by the church to help her and her first husband start life but failed to disclose this information. Advice please.

If someone is near death but lucid and there is no priest available to hear his or her confession can another serious Catholic hear that person's confession. Can this person absolve this dying person of his-her sins?

STEVE RAY HERE: I Do you not think that is effective. Confession must be made to an ordained priest. However, a sincere act of contrition in emergency will do the job.
