This is the first time I’ve had a chance to come up for air. Actully we’ve been deep underground a lot recently — today filming deep in the St. Callixtus Catacombs. Great footage including ancient paintings that few if any others have. I even found a rib.
Then deep under San Clemente for a 1st century Roman house, maybe even that of St. Clement. Also the tombs of Clement and Ignatius under the high altar.
Then to St. Lawrence Church with bones of Justin Martyr, along with Sts. Stephen (I like him) and St. Lawrence who was grilled to death.
Yesterday the Tiber River — baptism of Clement. Also finished much of Justin’s life and martyrdom in Rome.
We’re exhausted with three days to go but the food is sure good!
