In the wake of mounting concern about a swine flu pandemic, Bishop Gregory Aymond of Austin, Texas, has directed that Holy Communion be distributed under one kind and that holy water fonts be disinfected after properly disposing of the holy water.

In response to the spread of the swine flu, the bishops of New Zealand “have requested that receiving Communion on the tongue, Communion wine from the chalice and shaking hands at the sign of peace at Masses in New Zealand cease,” according to the nation’s Catholic newspaper. In the nation of 4.2 million, there are 13 confirmed cases– and 96 suspected cases– of the disease.

Noting that “the need for the introduction of widespread liturgical adaptations for the prevention of the transmission of influenza in the dioceses of the United States of America is not evident at this time,” the Committee on Divine Worship of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has published answers to ten questions about swine flu and the liturgy.

I can understand the desire to refrain from drinking from a common chalice, but refraining from communion on the tongue?????
C’mon!!!!!
We were told to receive on the hand as well. We were also told to only give the sign of peace or hold hands with our family. I prefer to receive on the tongue, but I guess I understand the concern. Fr. Patrick is the only priest at our parish for this month. He told us right out that if he gets sick, there will be a sign on the door and there will be no Mass offered until he recovers. May is a big vacation and retreat month here and most of the Pastors our out of town. It’s hard to know if we are just over reacting or if this is just prudence. It did give me the opportunity to do something I had seen done years ago and had always wanted to do. I was able to kiss Jesus before receiving Him.
Here in the Diocese of Fresno, we have one case of the swine flu. Yesterday at Mass, the Sign of Peace was completely ommitted, the holy water fonts were gone– poof!– as was the ***Communion Chalice***, and we were permitted to receive the Host only in the hand.
Sheesh!
I’m sorry, but I personally don’t believe one can catch the swine flu from JESUS!!!
Yet, we are to obey our Bishops, so that’s what we did. 🙂
Swine flu (H1N1) is a genetically created disease; the point of which is to create fear, panic and isolation among it’s intended victims- Christian Catholics, especially of European descent. Most protestant denominations have already “sold their souls” to international finance (gay marraige, abortion, euthanasia) and are no threat to the zionist-masonic-illuminati power structure.

If your bishop denies you the Eucharist-on the-tongue or threatens to close the door on you, he then is a fraudulent servant of zionist finance who should be shown the door.
I wonder if synagogues or mosques will be affected? Probably not. Why. Because they represent the power structure and want us dead via Obamacare.
