Everyone is dismayed and uncertain who they can trust right now. The Catholic hierarchy has to be cleaned up. It is certain there are bishops who knew and were silent.

BUT not all bishops were complicit. I know many that I trust were as shocked and angry as us. Here is one:

Read his recent letter — here. And here is my bishop’s letter here.

May all the good bishops rise up, expose and exorcize the rogue bishops. If any of them knew or know — they need to speak.

Pray for those of the hierarchy who do take a strong stand for Jesus, for morality and the Catholic Church!

HERE is a great homily from a good friend of mine, Fr. Steve Mattson of Lansing Michigan, a later vocation. His brother is Daniel Mattson who is a same-sex attracted, orthodox Catholic activist who wrote the book “Why I Don’t Call Myself Gay.”

Steve, thank you for sharing this letter and that from Mr. Donahue; they’ve been very informative. I am deeply concerned with what has come out recently, although I’ve known for some time that there were problems within the Church. I worked for the National Council of Bishops in Washington, D.C. many years ago and what I saw separated me from the Church for many years. I will not allow the actions of mere men to chase me away from my Church and my God again, but this is having a devastating effect on many young people who are leaving the Church due to issues like this. I pray for our Church and hope in God’s promise that the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Thank you for everything you do. God bless you.

Steve, this is so devastating tome as well, and I'm wondering if this is a good way to think about this. The Catholic Church is still Holy, we need to realize that we don't blame the victim (the Church) we blame the predator. The abusers need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the Law and those that covered it up. We absolutely should not keep saying the Church knew about it and covered it up, etc. Watch the words of those who are going to exploit this to make it seem like the Catholic Church is the predator. Along with those who were abused, the Church, it's members and innocent Priests are the victims.

STEVE RAY HERE: Deb, I think you are perfectly correct. If there are evil people in the USA it doesn’t make it an evil country. It is a great country with some evil people.

My pastor is Father Steve Mattson. We are so blessed to have him as our Pastor. He always, always speaks the truth! God bless him and all clergy who remain faithful and who say what needs to be said!

I have begun reading “The Great Encyclical Letters of Pope Leo XIII’s” printed by Tan. Let us all consider to hope and pray that all bishops reinstate the “Prayer to St. Michael” at the end of each and every Mass. For those who do not have the book, all of the writings are online either at the Vatican web site, EWTN (click search) , or newadvent.org
