Since I was 17 years old, studying the Bible has been my passion. Now as a Catholic it has increased 100%. Back in my youth, I could never have anticipated the wealth of materials for study that I now have at my fingertips.

I recommend two great Catholic resources:

FIRST, Catholic Scripture Study International. I have written many of the studies for this program and I highly recommend it. Use it for a group study, family study or individual study. It has everything you need in the box — all you need to do is add water 🙂  But really, it can be used by and veteran student of Scripture or by a complete novice.

I wrote the studies on Genesis, Joshua, Judges, Ruth, Acts and 1 and 2 Corinthians.

SECOND, I recommend Verbum Catholic and Bible Study Software. This works on all computers and syncs with tablets, smartphones or any other device. Take a whole Catholic library with you wherever you go. It is an incredible resource that I have used since 1990. Enter STEVERAY8 in the Promo Code for a 10% discount.

Make new resolutions to study God’s word this next year, or give someone else the gift of Bible Study.

steve…..I am looking for “literal translations” for bible in orig lang (hardcopy). Is there a good catholic verrsion?? I assume that it would be called an interlineal bible. Thanks in advance

STEVE RAY HERE: Your question is unclear but the Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition is a good one.

Hi Steve! I just got the free app for the Verbum Catholic Bible Study. In the included library is the “Treasury of Scripture Knowledge.” It has many helpful cross references, though still somewhat challenging to use in finding answers to difficult questions about the Faith.

    Hello again Steve,

I actually forgot to ask the question in my last comment, but is this book, “Treasury of Scripture Knowledge,” a good resource to use?

STEVE RAY JERE: Yes, very good.

  4. Andy

Is the Catechism of the Council of Trent used in Verbum as a reference or only the CCC?

STEVE RAY HERE: Andy, you can get the Catechism of Trent and all the Documents of the Council of Trent if you want them. I Have Hundreds of Volumes of the Fathers of the Church, All the writings of Cardinal Ratzinger (Pope Benedict) and John Paul II, etc.

So I can buy the electronic version of the Catechism of the Council of Trent separately as part of Verbum? If I do, will they be automatically linked to and integrated with the texts/graphics on the computer screen?

STEVE RAY HERE: Yes, verbum is like buying a lot of bookshelves was a powerful search engine and research assistant. You can add any books you want. I have 15,000 books and periodicals in my program. You can get all of the documents of Trent in a package or separately. All of them are hyperlinked to the Bible, the new catechism, the fathers of the church and much more. Verbum is amazing!

Use my promo code and you’ll get 10% off of the price.
