Today we woke up with three of grandkids jumping into our bed. Danny less than a year old.

Then the phone rang and next thing I was taking my 93-year old dad to the doctor’s with pneumonia. He and mom will celebrate their 73rd wedding anniversary in September.

UPDATE:
Had to hurry my dad to the hospital. In triage now. They are trying to get his oxygen level up. Evening Update: Dad is stable and with intravenous fluids and antibiotic and oxygen in his nose he is hanging in there.

This is God’s plan for the family. We take care of each other. They were great parents and now I get to honor them and return the kindness.

“My son, take care of your father when he is old; grieve him not as long as he lives. Even if his mind fail, be considerate with him; revile him not in the fullness of your strength. For kindness to a father will not be forgotten, it will serve as a sin offering—it will take lasting root.” (Sirach 3:12-14).

    Dear Steve and Janet,

I’m keeping you close to my heart today as you go through the reality of your dad’s situation. I know you are torn between wanting to keep him with you and letting him go to God. St. Paul had the same problem. Phil: 1:21-24 I know you and you are a good son and your dad must be proud of you and all you have accomplished in God’s name.

    Love and prayers,
    Pat

I am praying for you and your family. Your care for your parents is going to take a lot of energy and there may be changes to your life in ways that are unplanned. God bless you all.

Steve, You are in my every night prayers but I will say an additional prayer for your Father. I’ve been meaning to thank you so much for the fantastic Pilgrimage CD you sent from our trip in May. Thanks for all you and Janet do. You both make Jesus and Mary smile.
