Wes & Charlotte

He was in uniform on his way to be a medic in Iraq. She was boarding the plane to visit a friend. They noticed each other in the airport and each thought, “Wow, I would like to meet her/him!”

By chance they ended up sitting next to each other. Both were very shy and quiet. Before getting off the plane they exchanged e-mail addresses at the coaching of an older woman nearby.

They wrote back and forth and fell in love over e-mail the year he was stationed outside Baghdad. She would jump in bed with us every night to share the e-mails.

When he came home he started medical school and came to visit Charlotte and to meet us, her parents. It didn’t take long before he came from Chicago to take us out to dinner. He politely said, “I love your daughter and I have come to ask your permission to marry her.”

It was no surprise and we had already had a big family meeting to discuss the expected request. We gave Wes our enthusiastic consent and Friday I will be dancing with the bride! I chose the song to dance to “I Held Her First.”

More pictures then.
