On my way to Steubenville – Interesting, Politically-incorrect Talks to give

Update:   One comment, representative of many, after my talk:

Hi Steve, We spoke briefly Fri night in the fieldhouse and you were somewhat anxious about your main presentation on Sat. And yet, you received the most enthusiastic ovation afterward. I really appreciate your remarks, all of them. You needed to speak forcefully and you did so. It was so clear that your remarks were very well received. Keep going. And I often go to Robert Spencer’s site for a sobering analysis of many events.

I am at the Franciscan University of Steubenville. I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for their yearly Defending the Faith Conference.

I remember going to that conference 24 years ago right my conversion and how amazed I was to find all these lively Catholics. They were studying the Bible, defending the faith — they were even singing! I was proud to be in such good company and …

… never would I have dreamed I’d be invited back at least 10-12 times to gives talks myself!

Today I will be giving two talks. The first is a primary talk to 1,500 folks; the 2nd is a workshop.  I warned them the talks would be politically-incorrect but they still said m, “Let’s do it!” I admire Dr. Scott Hahn and the team for that  and for the excellent conference is that they provide.

At 9:30 AM this morning I will be giving a talk in titled “Islam: What Every Infidel Should Know.” It’s high time we pull our heads out of the sand and start being honest and realistic about what’s really going on in the world.

I’m recommending an excellent article by Robert Spencer (www.jihadwatch.org) who has written widely on Islam and has an excellent article entitled “Do We Worship the Same God?“ Published in First Things Magazine. https://www.crisismagazine.com/2012/do-catholics-and-muslims-worship-the-same-god

Also, my friend Andre Villeneuve, who I first met in Jerusalem when he lived there, has written an excellent article explaining Islam and how we as Catholics need to understand and respond to it. I highly recommend you read it:

My second talk is entitled “Swimming Upstream: Living a Catholic Life in a Pagan World.”  I’ve given this talk a lot of times and it’s always well received with lots of good stories and a bit scary as I take people back to the first centuries to experience the persecution of the early Christians.

Pray for me!

Praying for you, Steve! God bless you and all those who speak the truth! The truth needs to be spoken always regardless if it is politically correct or not. Praise be Jesus Christ now and forever!
