A Protestant friend of mine recently discovered the Law of the Catholic Church — the Code of Canon Law. He was thoroughly impressed that the Catholic Church had developed such a careful code of law by which the faithful must conduct their lives and affairs.

He admitted that the Protestant way was a "free-for-all" with each individual or group doing what is "right in their own eyes" (Judges 19:1). This is a quote from Judges when the Israelites went in every direction of faith and morals which brought great calamities upon Israel. To my friend the Code was a marvelous thing–something he envied.

But the question arose: Is the Code of Canon Law inspired by God? My good friend and Canon Lawyer Edward Peters addresses that question in an article he wrote "Is the Code of Canon Law Inspired?" Those who are interested in such things can read his article here.
