There is an amazing new translation (paraphrase) of the Bible entitled “Good as Newâ€. This paraphrase was made to be “woman, gay, and sinner-friendlyâ€. Let’s compare a few verses with traditional translations.
The Revised Standard Version Catholic Edition (along with other translations, including Protestant) we read:
But because of the temptation to immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband. . . . But if they cannot exercise self-control, they should marry. For it is better to marry than to be aflame with passion (1 Cor 7:2, 9).Â
The new “Good as New“ version paraphrases it as:
“My advice is for everyone to have a regular partner . . . If you know you have strong needs, get yourself a partner. Better than being frustrated!“
The type of partner you get is up to you. A lustful man can take a partner of choice whether a woman, another man or even an animal I suppose.
If you buy this “Bible“ you may feel ripped off since it is missing a few chapters (books). The “translators“ decided to omit the books of 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, 2 Peter, 2 and 3 John, Jude, and Revelation. These were just too hard to twist into modern terms. But, consider yourself lucky because you do get an additional gospel for no extra charge: the Gospel of Thomas.
