Janet and I are excited about our upcoming 2-week Apologetics Mission trip to the Philippines January 20 – February 1.  It is our 3rd trip to help the Filipino people better understand and defend their Catholic faith.  It is a Catholic nation — to the extent that at 12 noon everyone stops (in malls, government buildings, schools, etc.) and the Angelus is prayed over the sound system. Amazing!

This time we will be in Manila and in Davao Mindanao.  We have been endorsed and sponsored by two apologetics groups and three Archbishops!  The archbishops have arranged for me to speak to all the bishops, priests, deacons, religious and seminarians.  It is really quite amazing.

However, the responsibility strikes a humble fear into my heart — so I ask for your prayers that I stay strong, serve God well and don’t let them down. You can see our Schedule here, and my Open Letter to the Filipinos here. We will also keep a journal of our trip on this Blog during our trip.

Below is a letter from the President of the Catholic Bishop’s Conference of the Philippines, Archbishop of Davao, Archbishop Fernando Capalla. The other archbishops are Archbishop Gaudencio Rosales of Manila and Archishop Paciano Aniceto from further north of Manila.
