BIDEN AND COMMUNION  Russell Shaw writes about the controversy with Joe Biden receiving Communion. “People who think pro-choice Catholic politicians like President-elect Joe Biden shouldn’t be given Communion are often accused of politicizing the sacrament.

But the real politicizers are the accusers, who introduce politics into the discussion. The accused aren’t motivated by politics but by reverence for the Blessed Sacrament, much as St. Paul was in cautioning the Christians of Corinth against receiving it unworthily,” Shaw writes.  READ the whole story at CatholicVote.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK  “When bishops publicly announce their willingness to give Communion to Mr. Biden, without clearly teaching the gravity of his facilitating the evil of abortion (and his approval of same-sex relationships), they do a serious disservice to their brother bishops and their people.” — Archbishop Charles Chaput, archbishop emeritus of Philadelphia  LINK

Abortion is such a non-negotiable that no justification in the name of women’s reproductive rights or a womens right to chose can be used as an excuse for this evil and barbaric practice. That said, any Catholic endorsing abortion like Biden is not a Catholic at all and should not receive or be given our most Holy Sacrament.

It would help if our “shepherds” would develop some backbones and actually act like shepherds instead of managers.

Steve, please help me out with dealing with people who call Biden a "devout Catholic". I point out that he defies the Church on atleast two of its moral teachings: he thinks abortion is okay and that there is such a thing as "homosexual marriage", both of which are grave matter. Would it be correct to call this so-called "devout Catholic" a heretic?

STEVE RAY HERE: I don’t know that heretic is the right word since he is not specifically teaching the Catholic faith. Though he is practically a heretic according to the Carechism. He is practicing and promoting matters publically that are diametrically opposed to Catholic teaching which certainly makes him disobedient, in sin, self-Excommunicated, and outside the Faith.

The catechism define find certain terms all of which seem to apply to Biden.

Catechism 2089 “Incredulity is the neglect of revealed truth or the willful refusal to assent to it. “Heresy is the obstinate post-baptismal denial of some truth which must be believed with divine and catholic faith, or it is likewise an obstinate doubt concerning the same; apostasy is the total repudiation of the Christian faith; schism is the refusal of submission to the Roman Pontiff or of communion with the members of the Church subject to him.”

What can we do? It doesn’t seem right that the church would allow this especially when he is supporting late term abortion.
