I met Cardinal John Foley when he was Archbishop Foley. He joined us on a pilgrimage cruise. He was a prince among men too. Great sense of humor, powerful speaking style, palpable love of God, the Church and the Gospel. He was a pleasure to be with.
He loved communications and was thus in charge of the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Social Communications. It all started when he was in high school and the story was quite fascinating.
We are proud to be in a Church with such men looming large.The world is poorer for his translation to glory. We are richer though because he will certainly be an intercessor.
May God grant him quick access to the beatific vision and may he pray for all of us down here still attempting to communicate the word of God to a hungry world.
