I know the chances of you seeing this are very slim but I wanted to write to you to tell you that I became a Catholic this year and you had a hand in it.
It was your testimony on Relevant Radio, one Sunday afternoon at least 6 years ago, in winter. I was driving home from Mt. Horeb, Wi to Madison and I could only get Relevant Radio on the car radio. You were telling how you walked your family into a Catholic Church and announced you wanted to become Catholic.
I would listen for a few minutes and flip that radio off. A Baptist becoming a Catholic? How ridiculous! But then, my curiosity would get the best of me and then I’d turn the radio back on, only to flip it off again in incredulity! But that got me started with Relevant Radio. By that summer, I was listening to what would be Jeff Cavins’ last weeks as a host on Morning Air. Teresa Tomeo took over and she was speaking my language.
But, and this is crucial, if I hadn’t heard the ridiculous story of how a Baptist marched his whole family into a Catholic Mass and announced he wanted to be Catholic, I might never have gotten started!
Thought you might get a kick out of this story. I was welcomed into the Church this last Easter Vigil after a long, long radio catechisis and of course, RCIA!
