Last night, President Obama addressed a joint session of Congress — and the nation — about his plan for a national, government-run health care system, stating: “One more misunderstanding I want to clear up — under our plan, no federal dollars will be used to fund abortions.”

This simply IS NOT TRUE! Even the mainstream media and respected fact-checking organizations are calling out the President on this misinformation.

Make no mistake about it: Abortion WILL be funded by the government through the proposed health care plan.

For years, Planned Parenthood and the abortion lobby have been working towards the day when abortion would be included in comprehensive health care reform — the day when abortion coverage would become mandatory and paid for with your tax dollars.

Unless we act NOW, that day is here!

If President Obama has made this statement, then surely the best course of action is to hold him to it. If he is deliberately lying which I think is very unlikely, then he will be found out.

  2. Leticia Velasquez

Lies, lies and more lies! Why didn’t Joe Wilson stand up THEN and call Obama a liar, THAT was the worst lie of all!

  3. Ann Corbett

The Good American People want to hear the truth. We are tired of lies and cover up words that The President uses so those who lack the education and knowledge of knowing the difference can continue to believe everything he says.

He says one thing and means another. He is trying to cover up our Health Care Reform Plan and is not supporting the Hard Working Middle Class People, The Retired People from Business or Armed Forces. He needs to keep his hands out of the pot of America’s Health Care. It is NOT BROKE. Abortion will continue to be funded by the Govt. He is saying it will not. That is a Lie. All he does is tell one lie after another and speak one cover up after another as well. This President is not supportive of the American People at all. He is only supportive of WHAT HE WANT TO CHANGE. I did not vote for him. Only FOOLS did. I could hear the mis-spoken and mis-understanding words. I feel it is time for him to step down. Myself and Millions of other people would like to see him IMPEACHED.

Enough lies from the White House! The truth is being suppressed by the mainstream media in favor of the leftist lies. How do we get our legislators to wake up, seek the truth, fight for our freedom, our free enterprise system and oppose the socialist president and unelected czarist government now in place?

  5. Ed Reinharte

There is nothing to prevent it under HR 3200 or in the versions circulating in the Senate and we know the Pres. has no plan of his own. But we have to ask ourselves are the hard core life issues the only solid reasons we have for rejecting the Gov take over of health care? I would like to suggest that with the support of Fed and State governments the private sector could and would solve the ” objections ” raised against private sector control of health care. And this would be the best application of the principle of Subsidiarity which the Church teaches, it would also be the best protection we have against the over reaching power of the central government which we know can raise many moral problems.

  6. Joe

No it will NOT be, quit lying.

The public option will be funded by premiums, NOT taxpayer dollars. The entire argument is on taxpayers dollars. I repeat, the public option will be based upon premiums like any other company.

STEVE RAY HERE: JOE, NO OFFENSE BUT YOU MUST BE YOUNG, NAIVE OR BOTH. LOOK AT HISTORY AND GOVERNMENT AND IT IS OBVIOUS THAT WHATEVER OBAMA PROPOSES WILL BE 100% BIGGER AND MORE INTRUSIVE WITHIN 20 YEARS THAN EVEN WHAT HE PROPOSES TODAY. PREMIUMS? GIVE ME A BREAK. IS THAT HOW HE IS COVERING ALL THE OTHER PROGRAMS. I RUN A BUSINESS AND I KNOW HOW MUCH THE GOVERNMENT RIPS FROM MY POCKETS EVERY MONTH. PREMIUMS! NOT EVEN CLOSE.

  7. Chris

Everyone is so focused on details like abortions, or illegal immigrants, that everyone seems to be missing Obama’s foundational lie about the entire “plan.”

Obama is constantly proclaiming the urgency passing this bill right away, insisting that passage of this 1,000 page monstrosity it is so urgent that it needs to be passed right away, without time to even read it, much less figure out if it will actually fix anything, because it is important to fix our system immediately.

But I’d wager he knows full well that despite his insistence that this matter is so urgent that it must be addressed immediately, his bill wouldn’t actually take effect FOR FOUR YEARS, beginning January 1, 2013 (conveniently right after then next presidential election.)

    So what’s the rush again?

In the meantime, no one bothers to talk about 3 bills that have been buried in committees that really WOULD start fixing our current problems,

  8. Chris

… like the “Health Care Freedom Act” (S. 1324), the “Patients Choice Act (S.1099), or the “Empowering Patients First Act” (H.R.3400), solely because they were created & introduced by Republicans. (Can’t admit that the R’s have offered any alternative plans, much less ones that would actually fix the system rather than just burning it down by turning it into a medical version of the post office.)

STEVE RAY HERE: I WOULD SUGGEST YOU TAKE A LOOK AT THE REPUBLICAN PLANS. MOST OF THEM ARE MUCH MORE SANE THAN OBAMACARE.

#1 I’m sorry, but he is the PRESIDENT. You may think he has no business being so uppity, but this is America-love it or leave it.
#2 People are suffering and dying because we have a medical system that functions without the teachings of Jesus Christ. Even (some) of our Catholic hospitals have joined the health care $ orgy.
#3 Where do you get off thinking the blood of abortion is not on your lily white hands.

Look, If the leader of this ‘ObamaNation’ we are trapped in is lying – why can’t someone explain exactly how he is lying? I am very confused to say the least and so is everyone I know! I don’t think there is anyone out there who can explain exactly how Obama is lying about abortion. If he is, why can’t anyone explain it clearly??? And, besides that, what is abortion anyway? We know from what the Church allows to be preached here that abortion certainly is not MURDER – if it is not murder what then is it? If it is just “killing” well, that is what they do to chickens isn’t it? Perhaps it is just considered “disfiguring amputation” – the killing of human tissue (as with a tooth extraction) but certainly not anything like the cold blooded premeditated taking of a human life! God forbid! So, maybe abortion is not so bad and we can live with it – rich Catholics certainly are comfortable with it. But, all a Catholic has to do is ask his or hers’ pastor if Abortion is murder or not and you will find out it is not!!!!(if you dare believe them – where’s your faith?.

  11. Joe

Steve, neither young nor naive sorry to disappoint.

It’s not a financial or political issue, it’s a moral issue. The Republican plans are nothing and won’t work, they are just more of the same.

The bottom line is that the most powerful nation on earth ranks 31 in infant mortality rate and have almost 50 M people uninsured. Just think if the Gov didn’t take some of that money out of your pockets for medicare where would most of our elderly be today? Is that a good Christian attitude?

We focus some much in this country on “MAH MONEY” and me me me… it’s not about me and it’s not about you. No one gets where they are without the help of others… maybe not always directly but definitely indirectly.

While Obama nor anyone else is proposing socialized medicine or socialism, regardless of what you hear on the rightwing blogs and media, we eventually succeed or fail together. You may personally do better but what about your children someday? or do you have children? I have 4 and I would like to see a time when they entered the job market that the chance of illness didn’t mean they could quickly become destitute. My mother just turned 65 and was able to move to Medicare, even though she had a decent retirement as a teacher, her premiums up until this time have been $700 per month… now she can at least get her medicine each month. Doing well or making a lot of money so you can have possession on this Earth isn’t what it’s about is it? So yea a few do better but do we all? No, clearly not…

Last thing…The Public Option will be setup as an independent company, that was my point about taxpayer dollars NOT funding abortions. I do apologize for using the word lie perhaps that was too harsh, I should have said “perhaps you were misinformed”. However you may know this and still consider that “funding” abortions as some Bishops seem to, if that is the case, what then to they propose Catholic’s do who have insurance that funds abortions? Just drop it? That’s not an option.

We do not want to fund abortions but we also need to realize that being Pro-Life and Anti-Abortion are 2 different things. Most Republican are Anti-Abortion (I know I was one yeas ago but that’s another story) not Pro-Life. If we are truly Pro-Life then we respect life from conception to grave. You can’t logically claim that title and say you are against someone getting basic medical care because they don’t have the money to pay for it or as some Republicans I know where joking the other day “well if he had worked hard, he would have insurance and wouldn’t have died, just less of a burden for the rest of us now” That seems to be the prevailing attitude on the right. That when someone lacks something it’s because “they didn’t work as hard” that’s not usually the case… sometimes but not often.

How do you reconcile that with your Catholic / Christian Faith? Did you go to Mass last Sunday? Do you remember the Gospel reading?

If we don’t offer everyone basic medical care are we not judging someones worth by their appearance? on their ability to “pay” that their “value” as human being is somehow tied to our object monetary system?

Personally, and I admit I could be wrong, I just don’t see Christ agreeing with the attitude of the right.

    If I may….

I have been very politically minded for years, but must admit that until we ran onto Clinton and having listened to his speeches and then watching what he did to see how well his words matched his actions, I have now changed my ways. Now, I listen to high powered liberals, and know exactly what they will do. They do the exact opposite of what they say, and the truth of the situation is also the exact opposite of what they say it is. And they will stand there and get mad at you when they tell you the sky is YELLOW and you are looking at it and I guess you are supposed to believe you have lying eyes because it sure looks BLUE to you/me. It’s just the relativism and abuse of language and morality we live in today. Especially in the political realm. And unfortunately, it extends all the way down to the local level too. Just keep doing your best and pray for this poor country. I’m afraid this will continue until somehow we can stop killing our babies and old people and those deemed not valuable as in Terry Schiavo.

    Blessings.

Response to Steve Rays comment about the “Republican Plans”:
In the last 16 years what have the Republicans planned? Zip. Suddenly a Democratic steps up and takes action. Now the Republicans have plans? Oh I see.

  14. Bob Creedon

Joe, Regarding using “premiums” to fund abortion, suggest you read the Sept 8 statement by Douglas Johnson, Legislative Director of the National Right To Life Committee. It exposes the absurdity of that claim.

  15. Ed

just goto factcheck.org and look up the Capp amendment by Lisa Capp (D) California

  16. Carole Whipple

We’ve gotten an email from Catholic Coalition with regards to a Constitutional lawyer’s views on the Healthcare bill-‘The Real Truth’, by Michael Connelly. He has read the entire bill, says that he “was concerned that parts of the proposed law being discussed might be unconstitutional.” He goes on to say,”What I found was far worse than what I had heard or expected.”
He points out that the 3rd, 4th, and 5th Amendments are infringed upon, also the 10th Amendment. He says that this is “not about health: it is about siezing power and limiting rights.”
The terrible truth is that we already fund abortions to some extent. Our pro-life group had a caller call Planned Parenthood in our area to get some infromation about them. She pretended to be seeking information for an abortion saying all she had was Medicaid. She was told there was no problem with paying for it with Medicaid.

Every time this president opens his mouth it’s FULL OF LIES! I’m tired of this person holding the highest office in the land and not respecting the very office he is sworn to uphold. We cannot trust this person and all his advisers, most of whom are self-avowed communist and socialist radicals. Americans, we need to wake up! Imagine he is only nine months in the White House and how much damaged he has done to our country? Do we need to wait for three more years?

Standard liberal Demo junk from their talking points. Tom, look at history. Republicans HAVE tried to do something. Many times. Example.. In the ’90’s, after the Republicans took over the House for the first time in over 40 years, knowing what the Democrats do to anyone who even looks at Medicare or Soc. Sec., they just tried to SLOW the INCREASE in spending in Medicare because they knew it is going broke as in bankrupt. What did the Democrats do? Ran around yelling that the Republicans were CUTTING SPENDING(as in spending less this year than last) on Medicare and they trying to take it away from seniors. A total, bald faced lie, but that’s the way Democrats do things. And when any type of amendment was introduced to a Senate bill it was DOA because the Democrats threatened a filibuster or again killing it in committee, thereby killing any chance of the Republicans doing anything.

Also, in the ’90’s they were able to finally get thru a change to implement HSA’s(Health Savings Accounts) because at that time the people were clamoring for a change and the Democrats knew they had to do something so they let it go thru, BUT ONLY ON A TRIAL BASIS, A LIMITED NUMBER OF PEOPLE COULD GET THEM, somewhere around 100,00 and if I remember they had to get them before a certain date. Again, that was allowed but limited because any expansion would have been filibustered. Eventually, at some point, it was let thru on a more permanent and expanded basis because it turned out to be demanded by the people. It became a popular way to have a policy. As an example, I just left a contract commitment w. a major health insurance company and the most purchase type of policy for those under 65, is the HSA. They love it.

Tom this is just scratching the surface of what the Republicans have tried to get done but what they try is stopped before it even gets out of committee, or by threat of filibuster or is just defeated by a Democrat dominated House and Senate. And also the fact that in the past the general public, as in YOU, are not told of it by the MSM(MainStream Media) because they don’t want the public to find out about it and give the Democrats hell for not allowing it to go thru. We have a far left media in this country. And they, like the far left, liberal politicians, are liars and thieves and complicit in the murder of millions of babies, not to get off the subject too much. You might not like what I say, but if you do your research, you will find I am telling the truth and I know that hurts very bad. It blows your bubble and makes your kool-aid taste nasty.

So, now, how do you explain to the seniors that the Democrats and Obama ARE TRYING TO CUT MEDICARE DRASTICALLY? ow do you explain that the MSM is not giving them holy hell for it. That the MSM and the liberals change the subject and just talk about how eveyone who does not want this trash to go thru is just a part of a mob, “astroturf”, Nazis, fascists, etc.? HOW DO YOU CHANGE YOUR STORY, TOM and have ANY CREDIBILITY?

With a few differences about who is dying and who is lying, the tenor of this discussion regarding health care sounds similar to another discussion about a former administration’s insisting on the existence of weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Whichever side of whatever issue, it sounds like self-righteousness guarantees self-rightness?
