Well, Father Amorth is also human, susceptible to mistakes. I’m not pointing out that he is wrong nor right but it seems a bit extreme to call yoga and harry potter “satanic.” even if the former leads to Hinduism as religious toleration is a prime mark of The Holy Catholic Church, whether their dogma is with our Catholic belief. Another thing not all eastern religions are based on reincarnation as Christianity originated in the ‘east (i.e. Israel) thus by raw definition is an eastern religion.
It does seem like a stretch for Americans to believe that Harry Potter and Yoga are Satanic. On reflecting though, America is like a frog being slowly boiled while not noticing its getting hotter. Peter Kreeft says we accept the big lies very easily these days. I add to that that we question our faith and our Fathers more than reflecting on them. I love our Papa Benedicto and trust him and I accept what Father Amorth is saying because he has committed his life to serving the church as well as he cares more about what Christ is going to say to him at judgement than what the critical ” tolerant” crowd is going to say. He cares about the salvation of souls and is trying to give good guidance.
We’ve just celebrated Christmas. Our most beloved and traditional decorations, those using plants that stay green all winter when everything else is dead and dormant, have their origins in pagan celebrations in Europe that predate Christianity. Yet walk into almost any Christian church in December and you’ll see a Christmas tree. Yet none of us are worshipping Celtic sun gods as far as I know. None of us are celebrating a sun god’s birthday on December 25, which is why that date was chosen to celebrate Christ’s birth. How is that not also satanic?
@Just Asking Yes! The point that you give is really cool. But what you do not know is that these symbols are no coincidence. In Rome Dec. 25th was a celebration of the Italic god, Saturn, and the rebirth of the sun god. This date was picked to celebrate Jesus’ birth not because Christmas has “origins” in pagan worship, but because this date is specifically marking the TRIUMPH over pagan gods. On the day that people celebrated the birth of a false sun god, we now celebrate the birth of the true SON of God. It is not satanic, but a symbol of Christ conquering Satan. In large contrast, the Harry Potter series and similar entertainment has children celebrating characters who practice the occult as heros! Their heros would be excommunicated if they were not fiction!

If you can’t take the word of an exorcist, who will you believe? He deals with the diabolical aftermath of those who dabble in the sciences of the demon whether intentionally or by accident. He said that the demon is crafty, wily and STUDIES his prey which is ‘us’. Christians, at their own peril and intellectual arrogance dismiss his existence as if the heavens were structured according to their individual beliefs. The Holy Spirit made it very clear to me that “I did not self-create.”
Yes, Father Amorth is right. It is Satan’s tool, it is cunning and will be and has introduced newer forms ( and other more interesting forms will be introduced with captions like ” the human body is sacred and beautiful..etc etc). Best – avoid.

I’m certainly no Bible or satanic expert, but I did practice yoga for many years and it was extremely helpful in helping me learn to relax and calm down. I have a history of problems with anxiety and depression (for very good reasons that I understand today). I studied Buddhism and Hinduism and the Muslim religion because I’m curious about other people, their cultures, and religions. Sociology and anthropology were my favorite studies at college. I have met many foreigners (military family) and love knowing a little about their cultures and religions, and there are some attractive features, but that does not mean I am less Christian or more cursed than I was before.
I am in no position to judge on whether yoga is satanic or not, but I read an article by a lay Hindu, very critical of Amorth and speaking of Christianity in a belittling tone, that “The New Wise Men from India who visit the West go about saying that Yoga is compatible with any theology or ideational system. While this may be true of preliminary physical and mental practices, it is not true of higher Yoga. Higher Yoga is organic to Sanatan Dharma.” Sanatan Dharma is the “eternal teaching of hinduism;” you may think whatever you want of it, but it has very little to do with Christianity.
