Archbishop Fulton Sheen once wrote: “There are not over a hundred people in the United State who hate the Roman Catholic Church; there are millions, however, who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church.”
I was one of those who hated because of what I wrongly believed about the Catholic Church. The reason I had these beliefs was due to being told what to believe about the Catholic Church from those who were told what to believe about the Catholic Church. No one was willing to find out what the bottom line was concerning the Catholic Church. Everything said about the Church was taken as truth while it seemed no one was delving into what the truth really was.
What about these Catholics? They worshipped Mary. They had a religion but not a relationship with Jesus Christ. They said they believed in God but really their belief couldn’t be the same, could it? The Bible says in James 2:19 KJV “Thou believest that there is one God; Thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble”.
So do Catholics have a belief such as the devils? When most Catholics are asked if they have been “born again” or “have accepted Christ as their Savior”, their main response is “I believe in God” or “I am a good person”, or “I’m Catholic”. Also, they have all these rituals, Saints, Statues and what about the Pope is he really standing in for God? Another big item, are they cannibals when they eat the bread and drink the wine during communion? Why do they leave Jesus on the cross, don’t they realize Jesus has risen from the dead?

Steve, my brother, I urge you to keep moving forward, and complete the journey Home, with the blessing of our God – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I call our Holy Mother the Roman Catholic Church “Home,” just as my new brethren including Steve Ray have done as they have given me the blessed greeting “Welcome Home,” because that is what the Church is. It is the natural Home of a Christian. Even my Protestant family members find themselves yearning for it, although they are blinded into thinking that the Church purveys the exact opposite of what they yearn for and need so greatly, and so they go from church to church, wandering in the spiritual wilderness, with Jesus in their hearts but separated from His Church, going anywhere but there. Be a witness to your friends and family, Steve! Our Savior and the Blessed Saints give you that power! Remember the right answers to those questions. Yes, we have been born again – the right way, by Baptism. Yes, we do have Jesus Christ as our Savior and a relationship with Him, but He is no more personal for one of us than He is for another, because we Catholic believers are all ONE Body. Yes, we believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God written through the Prophets, Disciples, and Apostles, but Jesus Christ is the ORIGINAL Word, plus we also believe in the Church and Sacred Tradition. Yes, we pray to the Blessed Virgin and many other Saints, just as we ask our brethren still living on Earth to pray for us.

Your comments are very encouraging. It was good to hear some encouragement, since I have not received much from my family. I had/have no expectations. I would love to share my faith with them. I know they love the Lord and mean well but learning and knowing the fullness of the Gospel is so freeing. Some of the WOW moments I have found are things I wish I could share. I am taking it slow and easy with them.
I personally and full speed ahead. Today we attended a Bible study lead by our Father Dan. The study of the book of Mark. I look forward to the next 5 weeks.
This Sat. I am going to a mens conference in which Steve Ray is one of the speakers. I was very excited to hear about this conference in Appleton, WI. I live only one hour away.

The work of God in the souls of those who are able to overcome the obstacles to entering the Catholic Church is truly amazing. As Elizabeth said to Mary: “Blessed are you who believed!” And as in the case of Mary, your struggle is not over. All the best! I just wanted to mention that in your reference to Cana in your long letter, you cite Matthew rather than John. Just thought I would clarify that. Blessings!
