The connecting flight from Detroit to Tokyo is 13 hours, then another 4 to Guam. We got on the plane expecting 13 hours but due to engine problems we sat for almost 5 hours before we took off. Ouch! It is now Saturday morning in Japan and we are 14 hours ahead of Detroit. We planned a long layover so we could get a few hours sleep. We are now ready to leave for Guam for my first talk to a large group tonight — mostly young people.

The last time we were at this hotel in Narita Tokyo, we turned on CNN and saw Cardinal Ratzinger step up to the window as our new pope. I still remember jumping out of bed and dancing around!
