Last night Janet and I watched a movie which I had gotten on a whim because it was Jewish and sounded interesting. It was — both! It was entitled Ushpizin and followed an Orthodox Jewish couple wrestling with God — and each other and everyone else — during the festival of Succoth. It has a good number of twists and turns and is very entertaining.

The movie is in Hebrew with English subtitles. It was filmed in Jerusalem — looks like the ultra-orthodox district of Mea-Shearim. It was interesting to see how they view God and relate to him. And, how God relates to them even in their struggles and doubts. We recommend this to anyone who tries to understand God and who has a respect or interest in the Jewish people.

You can learn more about the movie and see some images here. I also just found out this is a favorite movie of many of my best Jewish convert friends! It really is a great movie.
