LGBT Study Shows an “Erosion” of Support by Millenials

by Steve Ray on July 8, 2019

USA Today reports:

The young are regarded as the most tolerant generation. That’s why results of this LGBTQ survey are ‘alarming’

Among the findings:

• 36% of young people said they were uncomfortable learning a family member was LGBTQ, compared with 29% in 2017.

• 34% were uncomfortable learning their doctor was LGBTQ vs. 27% a year earlier.

• 39% were uncomfortable learning their child had a school lesson on LGBTQ history vs. 30% in 2017.

Screen Shot 2019-07-08 at 10.55.05 AMThe negative shift for the young is surprising, said Sarah Kate Ellis, GLAAD president and CEO. When GLAAD delved into the numbers, the group found that the younger generation was coming in contact with more LBGTQ people, particularly individuals who are non-binary and don’t identify simply as lesbian or gay.

Commenting on this decline in acceptance of the LGBT, Tim Wildmon of the American Family Foundation writes:

The pro-homosexual CEO of Harris Poll says, “These numbers are very alarming.” I believe the reason this is happening is simple: millennials have had the gay agenda crammed down their throats their entire lives. And 75% of them have at least one friend who is a homosexual, which means they may have personally witnessed the pathologies that come with homosexuality. It looks like the more they know about the homosexual lifestyle, the less they like what they see.

So it looks as if the scales might finally be tipping in a pro-family direction on homosexuality. This should be very encouraging news to all of us involved in the culture war! Let’s continue to pray, love, persuade, and act until our entire American culture returns to a biblical view of sexuality.

I think the reason is simple: massive overreach by the LGBT movement. When Christians who obviously are not bigots, but disagree with the lifestyle were vilified, millennials took note, because most millennials, who might not be Christians, know at least as many faithful Christians as much as they know homosexuals. When men pretending to be women began competing unfairly in sports, millennials noticed. When transgendered men wanted to go to the same bathroom as their younger sisters, millennials noticed. When straight millennials went to gay pride events and saw unmentionable behaviors celebrated, they noticed. When millennials saw that gays rarely have “committed, life-long relationships”, millennials noticed,

The LGBT movement had its moment. It could have solidified a culture-wide victory, but it overstepped its bounds. In the name of “tolerance”, they have become extremely intolerant – and this is obvious to anyone who looks. Millennials may lean liberal, but they are not stupid.

The LGBTQIA+whatever letter movement needs to learn some introspection, if it is to avoid a massive loss in support from society at large. To be honest, I don’t think that its leaders realize it and it will be much too late before they do.
