UPDATE: Scott Hahn Home from Surgery

by Steve Ray on January 21, 2012

Dr. Scott Hahn

“Dr. Scott Hahn says: “Home at last… after several firsts: first time I spent overnight(s) in a hospital; first time I received the sacrament of the anointing of the sick; and the first time a surgeon looked at me and said, ‘Yes, you might die.’ So I am grateful beyond words for His mercies and your prayers. How true it is, our God is bigger than all our storms!”

Good news is that the 18 inches removed was actually from his small intestine, not his colon. This is good news and much less of a problem long term.

LATEST UPDATE: Scott’s colon ruptured. Thankfully Fr. Ryland was able to get to the hospital and anoint him before they took him into surgery and then stayed with Kimberly. She said that they removed 18 inches of his colon (colon 5-5.5 feet total) and that currently he’s coping due to morphine but tomorrow will probably be a tough day as he will have to get up and move around and so she asked for prayer that the stitches hold and that no infection sets in. Thanks for your prayers.

From Dr. Hahn: “Came out of successful two hour surgery with lots of gratitude and pain. Will be in hospital for next 3-5 days; 2-4 weeks in recovery. Your prayers are greatly appreciated. AMDG”

I am so thankful that Scott is home from the hospital. I hope he will take time to heal and not rush his recovery. I am happy that I was able to be on the Italy tour in 2010 with them and their sons.
God Bless you! Marilyn Farneman

WOW! All those firsts, Scott? Surely you can find a little less traumatic firsts to enjoy next time you’re looking for new adventures LOL. Seriously, God’s Hand is on you and the family. We send more prayers for rest and rejuvenation for you all. My excitement is tomorrow. Biopsy for Thyroid nodules. God be glorified even in our carnally week bodies.

I was healed and recently decided I should tell about it with much gratitude and wonder why I waited so long to tell about it.
I belonged to an Intercessory Prayer group and went along for the ride , you might say , some doubt about healings I suppose . A lady came to Ocala to Father O’ Doherty’s Church , known as a healer,
After three calls during her healing and calls for people to come forth , and as the service was closing ; the healer announced again that the person who had had a biopsy of the thyroid was healed of cancer. No one knew of that and I answered by approaching her at the altar.
Sure enough my reports were negative and my endocrinologist who after several years of seeing me was told of the happening and acknowledged that for all the years since my thyroid has been stable and medecine never needed to be increased ; the ultrasounds OK
This is to say God worked on one of little faith and for too long did not show much gratitude. How awful of me , how awesome is my Lord .
I must now find out this lady’s name , beautifully humble soul hat she was. I wonder where my head is much of the time .
Would the experience of having had such faint response to my telling of Father James Bruse ‘s stigmata and of seeing the Smiling Mary weep at St. Elizabeth Seton ‘s in Lake Ridge VA have had too much of a negative effect. What followed of Bishop Loverde’s actions following the pastor Father Hamilton’s absolutely disgraceful , sinful porno etc was nothing to be pleased about and the Bishop’s persecution of Father James Haley for reporting the evil and more. After ten years may someone get up and go with prayers to assist and straighten that out.
I sincerely believe that Jesus can’t help shedding tears and too freuently at that.

Dear Dr Hahn,
sorry to hear about your surgery. praying for you.
I live in Italy and even so many miles away you had a very important role to my conversion. A friend gave me your book , Rome sweet home, in italian Roma dolce casa. The book did not mean much to me. But one day while searching for english speaking television canals your face appeared on my screen. I cuoldn’t belive it, so I stopped to listen. I’d found EWTN. I follwed all your programes and all the other programes I could fit in my time. I learned a lot, and after a year or so I re-read your book, this time I got a lot out of it. I had my second first comunion not long after.
Now, I still follew you on EWTN and I download all your podcasts.

Thanks be to God that it was a success!
The Lord surely has special plans for the graces you’ll be storing up in heaven through this suffering. Dr Hahn you are such an inspiring illustration of how our Father can use *one* man to direct so many of us back to Him. You’re influence in my life is beyond words and I know that even in a silent recovery heaven will benefit greatly from your cross. Thank you for accepting your call and becoming the tool with which the Lord uses to bring so many of us closer to him. I pray that God will keep you healthy and bless us with your teaching for many years to come!
Get well soon
