Immaculate Conception and Falling in the Mud

Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception
Today is a Holy Day of Obligation

Make sure to get to Mass today!

fog-mud-splashIf you want to understand the Immaculate Conception, or let’s say, if you want your young kids to understand it — then get my DVD Mary, Mother of God.

In this movie I fall into a mud puddle to explain it down and dirty. Of all the scenes in all our DVDs, this one gets mentioned the most — 10 to 1.

From Pope Pius IX, when proclaiming the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception, December 8, 1854:

“Let all the children of the Catholic Church, who are so very dear to us, hear these words of ours. With a still more ardent zeal for piety, religion and love, let them continue to venerate, invoke and pray to the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, conceived without original sin. Let them fly with utter confidence to this most sweet Mother of mercy and grace in all dangers, difficulties, needs, doubts and fears. Under her guidance, under her patronage, under her kindness and protection, nothing is to be feared; nothing is hopeless. Because, while bearing toward us a truly motherly affection and having in her care the work of our salvation, she is solicitous about the whole human race. And since she has been appointed by God to be the Queen of heaven and earth, and is exalted above all the choirs of angels and saints, and even stands at the right hand of her only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, she presents our petitions in a most efficacious manner. What she asks, she obtains. Her pleas can never be unheard.”

Hey Ray,
Saw you on EWTN tonight. It was awesome! I liked how you explained how the Church knows the exact locations. Doug has perfect timing because my wife asked the same question as she is skeptic. She’s not Catholic and is a bit hostile towards the Church. Please pray for her! Then when she heard your answer she said “its a shame they put churches up around those sites, they would have been preserved better.” I think the churches and shrines are quite alright!
I too am a convert to the True Faith from Methodism. Came in this past May 24th. I pray my wife will follow someday along with our baby girl. Anyway, I live just south of Toledo, Oh in a city caled Findlay. I wish I would have had the opportunity to come listen. That cathedral is something special.
I have all you Footprints of God dvd’s. What a joy I bet it is to visit all those locations. Blessings and prayers for the work you do.
