Judge gives order to remove Terri’s tube; ignores congressional order
Clearwater, Florida, Mar. 18 (CWNews.com) – The Florida judge overseeing the case of disabled woman Terri Schiavo reversed a decision earlier on Friday and said that her feeding tube can be removed, causing her eventual death from dehydration. Judge George Greer’s decision comes in response to a congressional subpoena calling Terri as a witness to hearings scheduled for later this month.
Greer said Congress had overstepped its bounds, that it is federal interference in a state matter, legislative overstepping of the separation of powers, and that the case has long been decided in his court.
A congressional subpoena carries penalties with it for anyone who interferes in someone called as a congressional witness. How the hospice where Terri is being held will respond is still unknown.
Update later today, Friday —Â the tube has been pulled from Terri’s body and unless it is put back in — she will begin starving to death which might take about two weeks before she dies. God have mercy on that judge and the other idiots involved in starving a woman to death — in America no less!
